in the use of a chainsaw

The number of days training required is dependent upon
experience of the trainee. There are several different courses, some for novice's and
others for experienced operators. There are also those covering specialist chainsaw subjects such as Tree Climbing, Maintenance &
Cross Cutting, Felling of Small Trees. Basic Chainsaw covers 2 units, CS30
Maintenance & Cross Cutting & CS31 Felling. From February 2007 we are
running CS30 over 2 days & CS31 over 4 days. You will be required to provide
your own equipment & saw with a guide bar of no more than 15" (380mm)
length. Please contact us if you are interested in further information.
These courses are for TRAINING ONLY with a maximum
number of 4 trainees.

Content
- This
course covers information gained in the classroom, workshop & practical
use.
- Understand
the potential hazards involved in using a Chainsaw and be aware of
the steps necessary to eliminate the risks and to prevent dangerous occurrences.
- Be
familiar with the requirements for the use of appropriate personal
protective clothing.
- Know
the appropriates uses for these machines.
- Instruction
will be carried out on your own machine.
- Know
what to do in the event of an accident or emergency.
- Carry
out pre start checks according to the operators manual, cleaning and
carrying out routine maintenance of the equipment.
- Understand
the safety precautions for refueling, and changing blades.
- Know
how to prevent damage to trees.
- Safety
clothing is required for this course:- Eye protectors, arms and legs to be
covered appropriately, chainsaw mitts, ear protectors & safety chainsaw
boots. A full list of requirements is issued in advance of the course taking
place.
